4 Stars Super lite!
The kevlar / composite half helmet from HD is a real winner…. with only two negatives.
I had a cervical fusion C4-C5 several years ago. Any helmet I tried caused compression of the C-spine within 30 minutes of riding and was very uncomfortable. Sometimes, against better judgement, I would ride without a helmet due to pain in the neck and left shoulder.
I saw a kevlar composite helmet at my Harley shop and bought one ($225).
You could feel a significant weight difference between this helmet and any other 1/2 helmet style in the store.
Long story short… I can ride all day with very minor discomfort. Instead of riding, constantly turning my head and bending my neck forward to relieve pain, I can enjoy the scenery!
If you suffer from the same issues I have, I highly recommend this product.
Oh, the two negatives… The clear coat finish seems to get “fish eye” dings a little too easy. Secondly, the Harley Shops do not stock a replacement helmet liner. It seems HJC makes the helmet for HD and they have to special order the liner from them. I have a new one coming, but had to wait a few extra days. Maybe HD will add the liners to regular inventory.
All in all this is a great helmet
